Angmering In Bloom Association
Village signage and floral displays
In February we submitted a grant request to the Angmering Parish Council for funds to erect signs showing Angmering is part of South and South East in Bloom. The signs would not only raise the profile of AIB but also Angmering itself in publicising its participation and achievements.
The floral displays in the Village provided by Ferring Nurseries and funded by the Parish Council are very attractive. A grant request was submitted to provide additional floral arrangements on the shop fronts, provided by flower pouches planted with bedding plants, AIB think this would really enhance the look of the Village.
Towards the end of March we heard that our grant request for funds to purchase flower pouches and plants to provide additional floral arrangements on the Village shop fronts was approved.
However we were disappointed that our grant request for funds to erect signs at the entrances to the village, to show that Angmering is part of South and South East in Bloom was not. AIB will now persue other avenues in order to progress this.
AIB ordered the pouches and plug plants and planted these up and they were grown on by various AIB members.
The pouches were offered to the businesses in the Village, who gladly accepted them. They were put up last Sunday and have made a welcome addition to the Village Centre. We are hoping they will not go missing or be vandalised like our Sponsor signs were, as this has cost AIB funds to repair and replace them.
AIB have resubmitted their request to put up signs with the Angmering Parish Council Highways Committee and this has been unanimously approved. Two signs to be put up indicating Angmering is part of South and South East In Bloom, one on the Twinning sign in Water Lane and one on the Angmering School sign on Station Road.
AIB also resubmitted an application to Angmering |Parish Council for a grant to fund these signs and this was also unanimously approved at the July Parish Council Meeting.
AIB are now awaiting approval from WSCC as to the appropriate wording for the signs.
