Angmering in Blooms May Fayre

 

Angmering in Bloom Association's May Fayre on Saturday 7 May was a great success with over 100 people coming along to sample the crafts, cake and plant stalls. The Association would like to thank all the local businesses for providing raffle and tombola prizes. Thanks also to all those who came along and supported the event which raised over £650 towards AIB projects to see more pictures

 

Village Hall Fair Pledge

 

At the Village Hall Christmas Fair, AIB pledged 3 hours of gardening in the auction. This raised £30 and was pledged by June Savory. On Wednesday 4 May, 3 members of AIB went along to weed and tidy June's front garden. Hopefully June was happy with our efforts.

Brownie Seed Sowing for Gardeners Badge

Table Top Sale success

 

AIB held its first ever Table Top Sale on the morning of Saturday 23 January in the Village Hall. Seventeen tables were set up by local residents selling clothes, games etc. Refreshments, including home made cakes were provided by AIB members. A raffle was also held for a lovely planter provided by Roundstone Farm Shop & Tea Rooms.The whole event raised over £250 for Angmering In Bloom projects to see more details ...

Village Summer Planting

 

The flower beds in the village have been planted, by Ferring Nurseries, with bee loving plants. Seven additional planters have been placed outside the Shops as well as the usual hanging baskets, lamp post baskets and mangers. These have all been planted to a colour theme of yellow, white and blue.

South and South East in Bloom Judging Day On Friday 11 July, Judges Hazel Chant and Reg Leach came to Angmering to judge our entry for South and South East in Bloom. Three new troughs have been added to the railings outside the Library, funded by a grant from the Parish Council. The trough outside Meat in the Square has been replanted. to see more details...

Annual Garden Competitions

 

AIB will once again be holding a Best Front Garden Competition, closing date for entries is June 15. However large or small please enter your garden, an entry form can be obtained from the PC Office or by emailing info@angmeringinbloom.co.uk.

All 4 Public Houses will be entered into the Best Public House Garden and all the Allotments at Honey lane will be judged for the Best Allotment. to see more details ...

Judging will take place at the end of June and The Garden Competition Awards will be presented at the end of July, sponsored by Haskins Garden Centre.

 

Easter Fayre at The Pigeon House, High Street, Saturday 12 April from 2-5

 

AIB held a fundraising event on Saturday 12 April, which included Plant and Cake Stalls, Craft Stalls, Seed swop, Tombola and Refreshments. This was a great success with about 150 people coming along. The Association wishes to thank our volunteers and everyone who attended for their support, over £400 was raised towards Angmering in Bloom projects. to see more details ...

 

Flanders poppy seed launch

 

Association members launched the Flanders poppy seed commemoration by giving a donation to the British Legion for the first five packets of seeds. 100 packets of seeds have been prepared by AIB in commemoration of 100 years since WW1 began. These will be available initially at the Easter Fayre and then from the PC Office. All donations received for seeds will be given to the British Legion. We are hoping people will sow the seeds in their garden and if successful send in a photo. see more details ...

 

St Margaret's Churchyard planting

 

On Thursday, 20 March, the Association were planting again, with the Rainbows, their Leader and a couple of Mums. The little ones found it hard but with a little help they managed to plant their primroses and snowdrops.

On Tuesday, 11 March, we were joined by the Brownies, their Leader and some of the parents, in St Margaret's churchyard, Angmering. They were helping to plant snowdrops and primroses along one of the walls and under a tree in the churchyard.

Annual General Meeting

 

The AGM was held at the Angmering Community Centre on the 11 March at 11:00. Jenny Bos, the Chairman, had decided to stand down as she had been responsible for setting up and chairing AIB for the last 3 years and felt that it would be a good time to pass the Chairmanship to someone else. Jenny proposed Julia Phelon, the Vice Chairman, which was seconded and unaninmously voted in favour of. The Treasurer, John Goulding and Secretary, Lorraine Wensley remained unchanged.

Angmering in Bloom is looking at creating a 'Friends of Angmering Community Centre' who can be involved in providing ideas and help in enhancing the areas surrounding the Community Centre.
