Angmering in Bloom were proud to install The Heritage Map on the Village Green in 2018. The map displays photographs and illustrations which bring the historic sights in Angmering to life.<\/p>\n

\"Heritage<\/p>\n

The project was inspired by the ‘Millennium Maps’ produced in the year 2000 by many villages in West Sussex. We realised that this map would be costly and therefore funding would need to be sought. We have to thank West Sussex County Council for a grant from the Community Initiative Funding Scheme, as well as The Angmering Heritage Trust for their support. These grants helped to cover the cost of the lectern, the artwork and having the lectern installed on the Green.<\/p>\n

The team then approached Jane Denman of the Skyblue Art group who meet at the Community Centre on Bramley Green, to ask if her members would be prepared to produce some watercolours for us of plants, animals and buildings, to help illustrate the map. We were blown away by the work which they did and are extremely grateful to Jane and all the artists named on the map.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\n\"Angmering<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

John Goulding<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0our Committee member,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0together with local historian, Neil Rogers-Davis compiled the historical captions to ensure that these were as\u00a0<\/span><\/span>accurate as possible. \u00a0<\/span><\/span>Neil\u2019s previous publications helped us enormously to figure out the best way to show the conservation area.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The photographs were put together by Lorraine Wensley, and Neil also provided some photographs from his collection. <\/span><\/span>We asked Arun District Council if they could help with the production of the actual artwork and this was done by\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Mandy Armstrong\u00a0<\/span><\/span>who\u00a0<\/span><\/span>did a beautiful job, (I think you will all agree) and put up with our numerous requests for changes in order to get it right!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The lectern was made by <\/span><\/span>a company called Earth Anchors based in Croydon and was was installed on the green by <\/span><\/span>Mike and Becki from\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Bay Studios<\/span><\/span> of Littlehampton.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
